This was a South German Club which was later referred to as International Rottweiler Klub (IRK). This is when the Rottweiler’s standard was officially set. The Rottweiler has several talents. These include; police work, searching and rescue, guarding, tracking, herding, competitive obedience and guide for the blind.

However like other dogs, this dog also has some health issues. Hip dysplasia is one of the health issues this dog suffers from. The Parvovirus is also a common cause of death among this species. In order to prevent the dog from getting this virus, it is advisable to get vaccination for the dogs while they are puppies. This reduces the risk of infection. The Rottweiler is also prone to becoming obese. Although most people think a heavy dog is idea, there are certain negative effects that come with an obese dog. These include; breathing problems, overheating, heart failure, diabetes, heart problem and skin disease among others. To prevent your dog from being obese, ensure you feed them a healthy diet and exercise them on a daily basis.

However, the size of the Rottweiler depends on its sex. The male Rottweiler has a height of 61-69 centimetres and a weight ranging from 45-60 Kilograms. The female Rottweiler on the other hand weighs much less. She has a weight of 35- 52 Kilograms and is 56-63 centimetres tall. Larger dogs tend to have a lower life span compared to smaller dogs. For instance, the Chihuahua which is a very small dog compared to the Rottweiler has a life expectancy of 15-20 years while the Rott has a much lower life expectancy.Now that we know about this dog’s life expectance, history and health, we can get into the life expectancy of the dog. The Rottweiler being a big dog has a very long life expectancy compared to other big dogs. The male Rott has a life expectancy of 8-12 years and the female dog tends to live longer with a life expectancy of two years more than that of the male species. However, in order to ensure that your friend lives long and does not suffer from the health conditions mentioned, it is important to ensure you take him o regular vet visits.
